Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision 2009/1002/CFSP of 22 December 2009 amending Common Position 2006/795/CFSP concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
On 22 December 2009, the Council adopted Council Decision 2009/1002/CFSP. The Council Decision consisted of an amendment of the Common Position as adopted on 20 November 2006 and renewed since. It entered into force on the day of its adoption.
This declaration is made to announce that the following countries have declared that they share the objectives of Council Decision 2009/1002/CFSP: the candidate countries Croatia* and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Armenia and Georgia.
They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.
The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
* Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
