Restriktive tiltak mot Somalia

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision 2010/231/CFSP concerning restrictive measures against Somalia

On 26 April 2010, the Council adopted Council Decision 2010/231/CFSP (Published on 27 April 2010 in the Official Journal of the European Union N° L. 105 p.17)  concerning restrictive measures against Somalia integrating the measures imposed by Common Position 2009/138/CFSP as amended by Council Decision 2010/126/CFSP. This Decision also included the adoption of a list of persons and entities subject to restrictive measures and the easing of some restrictions and obligations under the sanctions regime to enable the delivery of supplies and technical assistance by international, regional and sub regional organizations and to ensure the timely delivery of urgently needed humanitarian assistance by the United Nations.

This declaration is made to announce that the following countries have declared that they share the objectives of Council Decision 2010/231/CFSP: the candidate countries Turkey, Croatia* and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Armenia.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.

* Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
